Training Refund Policy
1. Purpose
This policy sets out Orava’s approach to refunds, cancellations, and transfers for all training courses, including in‑person delivery, online delivery, and open‑access courses. It aligns with common sector standards across higher education, professional training, and organisational development.
2. General Principles
Orava aims to provide fair, transparent, and consistent terms for all clients and participants.
Refunds and cancellations are managed in line with reasonable industry practice, ensuring clarity for organisations and individuals booking training.
All requests must be submitted in writing to Orava.
3. Organisation‑Booked Training (In‑Person or Online Day‑Rate Courses)
3.1 Cancellation by the Client
More than 30 days before the training date:
Full refund or fee waived.
14–30 days before the training date:
50% of the agreed fee is payable.
Fewer than 14 days before the training date:
Full fee is payable; no refund available.
3.2 Rescheduling
Clients may request to reschedule once without charge if the request is made more than 14 days before the training date.
Rescheduling within 14 days of delivery may incur a fee of up to 25% of the course cost to cover preparation and scheduling commitments.
3.3 Substitution of Participants
Organisations may substitute attendees at any time before delivery at no additional cost.
4. Open Courses (Per‑Person Bookings)
4.1 Participant Cancellation
More than 14 days before the course:
Full refund.
7–14 days before the course:
50% refund.
Fewer than 7 days before the course:
No refund available.
4.2 Transfers
Participants may transfer to another course date once, free of charge, if requested more than 7 days before the course.
Transfers requested within 7 days may incur a £25 administration fee.
5. Cancellation by Orava
If Orava must cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., trainer illness, operational issues), clients will be offered:
A full refund, or
A transfer to an alternative date at no cost.
Orava is not liable for any additional costs incurred by clients (e.g., travel, accommodation).
6. Non‑Attendance
Failure to attend a booked course without prior notice is treated as a cancellation with no refund.
7. Digital Materials and Pre‑Course Access
Where digital materials or pre‑course content have already been accessed, Orava reserves the right to deduct reasonable costs from any refund.
8. Exceptional Circumstances
Orava may, at its discretion, consider full or partial refunds outside the standard terms in cases of:
Serious illness
Bereavement
Other significant unforeseen events
Evidence may be requested.
