Support Services

Independent oversight to ensure investigations are fair, robust, and procedurally sound.

While Orava primarily supports organisations through training, independent investigations, and advisory services, we recognise that investigations are not always conducted as efficiently or effectively as they should be. Poorly managed investigations can fail to align with the principles of natural justice and can have a significant impact on all parties involved.

Orava’s Support Services are designed to assist individuals who are subject to, or have previously been subject to, any type of investigation. This includes conduct and misconduct investigations within organisational or educational settings, as well as criminal investigations. Through our work, we have seen first‑hand how poorly conducted investigations can affect the wellbeing, confidence, and professional standing of those involved.

Our support service offers independent guidance throughout the investigative process or through post‑case review, helping to assess whether investigations have been conducted efficiently, fairly, and in line with legal, procedural, and professional obligations. This service provides reassurance, clarity, and expert oversight where investigative standards matter most.

Where Could Orava Help You?

Orava can provide support across a wide range of investigative issues, including:

  • Reviewing adherence to relevant organisational policies, procedures, and sector‑specific guidance.

  • Assessing compliance with legal obligations, including legislation such as the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, where applicable.

  • Evaluating investigative decision‑making, including proportionality, rationale, and potential unconscious or structural bias.

  • Reviewing the conduct of investigative interviews, including questioning style, sequencing, tone, and fairness.

  • Providing assurance around evidence handling, disclosure considerations, and record‑keeping.

  • Offering independent insight into whether investigations have been conducted efficiently and in line with recognised professional standards and best practice.
